Barangabari seminar discusses role of priests From Our Correspondent HALEM, April 18 – Madhya Chaiduar Anchalik Brahman Samaj of Barangabari organised a day-long programme of get-together and a seminar on, ‘Role of priests, youths and women of Brahmin community in moulding society’ at Bishnumandir of Ghahigaon near here recently.
Earlier, S Goswami hoisted the flag while N Sarmasastri initiated tarpan with rituals in the name of ancestors under a tree.
P Sarma, A Barthakur and D Sarma stated on behalf of the priests and pointed out their problems. They laid stress on strict maintenance of religious rules in performing priests duties.
In his speech as guest of honour, SC Barthakur, ex-vice-president, Sonitpur Jila Brahman Samaj appealed to priests to follow the Vedas in true sense of the terms. They must study the religious books like Puruhit Darpan and other books of significance, he said.
Addressing the youths and women P Goswami, an ex-engineer spoke about Brahminism and its activities which are related to science.
Citing an example Goswami said that about 8,000 years back, the sages wrote the Vedas and at that time it was explained that the star ‘Mars’ will be red and the same had been announced recently by the scientists after a long research. Sages spoke about ‘global change of climate’ which is becoming a considerable problem’, puja, mantra and everything is science, he said.
RN Goswami, principal, Jyoti Agarwalla HS School of Balijan and vice-president of MCD Brahman Samaj and SC Barthakur told on the duties and responsibilities of the youths and women to their children and society as well.
